Anti-rec for sudden, unexpected transmisogyny!

CN: transmisogyny, stalking, paedophila, castration.

In an surprise twist, the heroine's scary stalker turns out to be an evil trans woman! Or perhaps a nefarious man who disguises himself as a woman despite not identifying as one; the story doesn't seem to care about distinctions like that. Or about distinctions between gender and genitalia, since the villain started presenting as a woman after self-castration with a butcher's knife. And is also a paedophile, just for some extra awfulness.

Also an anti-rec for the fact that the romance hero, a tropey hard-bitten detective who insinuates himself as the heroine's protector, is himself a very, very plausible stalker suspect. So many of his actions - his detailed knowledge of her routines and personal life, his total lack of interest in her boundaries, his continual escalation of his involvement in her life - seem very much like foreshadowing that he's the stalker, engineering the whole scenario to frighten her into letting him stay the night to keep baddies away. YMMV on that, since stalkerish, domineering men are popular as heroes in the romance genre.
